Frequently Asked Questions
What Brazilian or Portuguese names suit a Fila Brasileiro?
The Fila was developed in Brazil, so Portuguese and Latin American names fit its heritage -- Rio, Salvador, Diego, Tiago, Lucas, and Gabriel for a male, plus Luna, Bela, Estrella, and Mel for a female.
What strong names suit a guardian mastiff this size?
The Fila Brasileiro is a large, powerful molosser, so commanding names work well -- Titan, Maximus, Goliath, Tank, Brutus, Caesar, Hercules, Atlas, and Zeus all suit the breed's size and guardian bearing.
Are there names that reflect the Fila's coat or working past?
The coat comes in brindle, fawn, and black. Earth-toned and brindle picks suit it, and because Filas were historically used to track and hold large game such as jaguar, a name like Jaguar nods to that working heritage.
