15 Disney Dog Names After Dog Characters In 101 Dalmatians

101 Dalmatians is a 1961 American animated feature produced by Walt Disney and based on the novel The Hundred and One Dalmatians by Dodie Smith. There are lots of dog characters in the film, most of them are dalmatians. Pongo: A male Dalmatian who is known for his two solid black ears and red collar. He is very intelligent, and is often looked to for advice. It is claimed that he has one of the brightest minds in dogdom, however can be puppy like on some occasions and not too reliable when it comes to discipline. He was happy and sweet to his children.


Perdita: A female Dalmatian who sports a pair of spotted ears, and a blue collar. Pongo is her mate through out the Dalmatian franchise. She has fifteen puppies with Pongo. She is sometimes referred to as "Perdy." Perdita is very well-mannered, elegant, and ladylike, a complete foil to Pongo's easygoing and carefree nature. Like Pongo, Perdita shows to be a fierce fighter.
Colonel: An Old English Sheepdog who assists in the rescue of the Dalmatian puppies. Colonel has been shown to be courageous and resourceful in rescuing the puppies from Cruella. In the movie, the Colonel is instead called "Fogey."
Patch: A male Dalmatian, one of the larger pups in Pongo and Perdita's litter, the most iconic of all the pups. In the animated movie, Patch was seen to be quite a barker, whilst watching The Thunderbolt Adventure Hour, he would often get into the show and start chewing on the carpet, cursing at the villain.
Lucky: A male Dalmatian, one of the original 15 puppies. Lucky had a black ring around his eye at birth too, which is shown in promotional clipart along with an odd wishbone shape between his eyes. He is also one of the weakest puppies in the movie.
Penny: A female Dalmatian, one of Pongo and Perdita's original fifteen puppies, the lightest of all the puppies, and has relatively few spots. The spots she does have, including those on her ears, are very small and round. She is also one of the few girls of the litter, and is presumably depicted as "Daddy's little girl."
Freckles: A male Dalmatian, one of Pongo and Perdita's original fifteen puppies. His name comes from the spots sprinkled around his nose, resembling freckles. He is shown to be playful and usually responsible about anything that's going to happen.
Rolly: A male puppy with spotted ears and a red collar, one of Pongo and Perdita's 15 puppies. In the Dodie Smith novel, his name is "Roly-Poly," and he is a mischievous and playful puppy who often gets into trouble.
Pepper: A female Dalmatian, one of the original fifteen puppies. She is brave, helpful, and outgoing. One day she wishes to be as brave as Thunderbolt, the greatest dog in the whole world.
Jewel: A female Dalmatian, one of Pongo and Perdita's 15 puppies. She is described to be prim and proper, and is the most feminine of the litter. Her name comes from how the spots around her neck resemble a jeweled necklace.
Wizzer: Wizzer or Whizzer is a male Dalmatian, one of Pongo and Perdita's 15 puppies. His most commonly given trait is a weak bladder, meaning he will have frequent accidents every so often. Wizzer has solid black ears, his back left paw is covered in a patch. He is amongst the bravest of the pups.


Tripod: A male Dalmatian, named for being the only puppy with three legs. Tripod is a very athletic, calm and hard-working puppy. He is shown to be a bit of a perfectionist.
Fidget: A male Dalmatian, one of Pongo and Perdita's 15 puppies, and the fourth to be referred to by name. He is one of the average looking pups in the litter and is quite hard to distinguish among the others. His name comes from the way he itches and scratches himself, due to fleas.
Two-Tone: A female Dalmatian, one of the original fifteen puppies. She has one side of her body covered with spots, whilst on the other side is blank. Also, her ear is black on the side with spots on it, whilst on the spotless side her ear is white. She is also shown to have a love of music and is a bit of a tomboy in contrast to Jewel's girly personality.
Dipstick: A male Dalmatian, one of the original 15 puppies. His name comes from his tail being half white and half black, resembling a dipstick. Dipstick has a similar behavior to Rolly, revealing that he loves to eat and usually asks for kibble or treats.
